How we helped building a cloud-based derivatives portfolio valuation and risk modeling platform
We collaborated with London City-based Solum Financial to develop a cloud-based derivatives valuation and risk modelling platform. Our work included refining specifications, designing a user-friendly interface, and overseeing delivery, testing, deployment, and support.
Challenge
Metasite was tasked with building a cloud-based derivatives portfolio valuation and risk modeling platform for Solum Financial to be offered as a SaaS product, addressing the need for scalability, integration with OpenGamma Strata, and high performance for global institutional clients.
Scope
Metasite supported Solum Financial in all project phases, from refining specifications and designing the platform architecture to developing both a cloud-based and on-prem solution, integrating derivatives pricing and risk modeling tools, and providing ongoing support.
Result
The platform delivered robust valuation capabilities for derivatives, reduced infrastructure costs through ARM migration, and improved scalability using Kafka and Kubernetes, while meeting strict technical standards during due diligence with a top global custodian bank
Why Metasite
Metasite was selected due to its expertise in financial software development and its ability to provide a scalable, cost-effective solution for complex derivatives valuation. The client appreciated Metasite’s strong collaboration, technical knowledge, and ability to deliver a custom solution that aligned perfectly with the project's goals.
Key features of the developed solution
A complex bitemporal data model was implemented to track precise data states at specific points in time, enabling regulatory compliance and historical data integrity.
Kafka was leveraged to transform monolithic applications into microservices, improving scalability and allowing the platform to handle real-time data streams efficiently.
Kubernetes enabled fast environment provisioning, boosting scalability and resource efficiency, and ensuring the platform could meet the demands of large institutional clients.
