Digital Pension Scheme Self-Service Solution for a $15bn Insurance Advisory Firm

We partnered with a $15bn+ British-American multinational risk management and insurance advisory company to redesign and modernise their digital self-service platform used by over two million pension scheme members.

How we helped top 5 insurance broker deliver a white-label customer platform in half the time

We employed TOGAF to complete the initial Technical Design Blueprinting exercise, implemented multi-tenancy, legacy backend integration, third-party provider connections, and enhanced content tailoring. This project marked the client’s first successful adoption of agile software delivery, and our collaboration continues.

Challenge

Client faced losing market superiority due to regulatory changes and internal resource competition, needing external assistance to design and implement a cost-efficient, next-generation white-label digital platform within tight deadlines.

Result

The project was completed ahead of time and under budget, leading to Metasite becoming a formal partner and earning a perfect 5/5 NPS score from the client's stakeholders for exceptional project delivery and client engagement.

Why Metasite

The Client invited Metasite to take part in the RFP process as their Head of Technology was aware of our multi-decade track record in successfully delivering complex digital customer self-service solutions to insurers, investment managers and banks – and knew of our team’s recent success in delivering a comparable solution to another financial services giant in the UK against a very aggressive deadline.

Key features of the developed solution

Lightning fast onboarding of new platform tenants

the multi-tenant, highly configurable solution enabled our client to launch new customer portal instances with custom corporate branding and customised user journeys in a matter of minutes or at most hours instead of weeks or months.

Versatile content personalisation

Content is tailored for specific audience segments, with depth of personalisation ranging from very general to highly specific. Content customisation options extend from web page layout level down to single-word variations.

Codeless design and configuration of user journeys

To enable gathering of complex user data, the solution supports creation of multi-page user journeys. These can include questions, confirmations, data forms, and more, all managed through the CMS without any need for additional coding.

Data widgets

A range of data items, managed through the CMS, can be embedded in the application UI pages with ease, facilitating easy integration of various data panels, buttons, and messages. The solution supports both authenticated and non-authenticated users.

Key components of the developed solution

Business Logic Layer (BLL)

Business Logic Layer (BLL)

Composed from an array of .Net microservices built by Metasite, the BLL handles all necessary business logic, computations, access to internal databases, and integrations with misc. third-party systems. This component is highly specific to client needs and requires customisation for different applications.
Headless CMS

Headless CMS

Based on an off-the-shelf 3rd party vendor CMS application, it provides a UI used by internal users for construction and editing of end-user content. It is not directly coupled with the frontend application, thanks to our custom-built content service proxy (part of the BLL). This approach enables us to easily swap in and out different CMS products if/when required.
Frontend Application

Frontend Application

Custom-developed in React by our team the application is designed to render data from the Business Logic Layer and CMS in a visually appealing and user friendly manner. It contains no business logic or knowledge of use-case and journey-specific pages or page elements. This design principle ensures the frontend application can easily be reused for a variety of different use cases and journeys across the enterprise.
